Located just a few hundred feet from shore within the Strait of Georgia, an artificial reef using cremated remains, is ready to be born.  Living Reef Memorial Canada has acquired all the permissions and licensing to begin placing reefs into the ocean creating a living, loving monument for those who have passed and habitat for marine life.  There are 4 different reefs to choose from, two such reefs are dedicated solely to a single individual, another reef encompasses two sets of remains, designed for a couple or siblings that share a strong bond in life and wish to stay together “forever”. The fourth is a “community” reef encompassing multiple sets of remains, received from various communities, into a larger reef.   The cremated remains of a loved one are incorporated into a scientifically engineered reef and will be deployed to the sea floor becoming a lasting monument for the deceased and a protective home to the marine life found in our waters.  Kevin Owens, Director of Living Reef Memorial Canada says that “not only does Living Reefs Memorial bring a beneficial impact to the environment, they are also a tribute to anyone who appreciates the ocean, the environment and all the wonders it brings.” As added bonus partial proceeds that are generated from the sale of a Living Reef Memorial go directly to save endangered sea turtles.  If having to choose a memorial or burial option for yourself or for someone else, Living Reef Memorial Canada offers the family another to way to lay our loved ones to rest that everyone can be proud of.
